This past weekend, one of the most famous mountain racing roads in the World was hosting an IDF World Qualifying Series Race, Pikes Peak, - "America's Mountain"
Colorado Native, Zak Maytum took the win in the last corner over Californian riders Jimmy Riha after Byron and top qualifier Calvin Staub crashed in the first left. The start line is at 11,400 ft and the Mountain peak is over 14 000 feet. The Air is thin and drag is low at this elevation, air braking doesn't do much! The 1.5 miles of perfect asphalt and 10 corners allows racers to reach speeds over 60 mp/h. Big thanks to Connor Welles of NHS and Road Rider for a successful first year. We are already looking forward to 2014.
In the Junior Category, Californian young guns ruled. Chance Gaul took first place in front of the Vinograd brothers.
