Silk Road Challenge - Important changes - International Downhill Federation

The Silk Road Challenge in China has shifted to a new location. It will now be held in Wuhan, Hubei province, near the Mulan mountains. The nearest airport is a one-hour drive; Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.

The dates are unchanged: April 21 – 23.

The IDF apologizes for the inconvenience this location change will cause some riders, especially those who have already booked flights to Chengdu. The change in the location of the race has only just been made known to us.

Silk road challenge 2017 new track.

The new track is 1.2 miles long, 10% average grade, with several technical corners that will be a test for riders of all skill levels. It includes possibly the most distinctive feature of any track anywhere in the world - a giant boulder in the middle of the road midway along the track. The ancient stone is part of the local cultural heritage and is fixed in the road, making the track even more unique and challenging. Safety measures will be taken to ensure that the boulder does not cause any additional hazard for riders.

An update will be posted shortly with information regarding the accommodations address but a special deal for riders attending as it's possible to read in our event page. Registration will open on March 1 @ 10:00 CET on the event page - don't miss it!

Over the last two months we have been working with the organizers in China to confirm the details for the event and to ensure that it fit our standards as a World Cup race. Our priority with riders is to communicate accurate information about world tour events with sufficient time for riders to prepare for their attendance at event. Unfortunately the issues with the Chinese government regarding the confirmation of the road location delayed us providing that information in this case, and we apologize for the difficulties this may cause.
