The Schengen Invasion - Europe 2016 - International Downhill Federation

TMI LilyhammerAfter many long nights of discussion and negotiation the IDF is pleased to announce the European Tour events for 2016. These are the races and dates which will determine who will become the Continental European Champion in 2016 and who will be up on the World Tour leaderboard battling for World Cup Series glory heading into the home stretch of South America.

TMI Lilyhammer

After the bounty of the americas the IDF pirate ship will set sail across the Atlantic for the Schengen line, where riders will jump the fence and then in somewhat of a reverse invasion, head north to Viking country and the beautiful Olympic Ski resort in Lilyhammer to take on the challenge of defeating these Norwegian Knife throwers. It will be a titanic World Cup battle down the roller coaster that is the Olympic Ski Jump road to determine who will win the viking riches and the valuable World Cup points in the first European event of the 2016 Tour.

Almabtrieb

Patrick Switzer and Kevin Reimer @ Almabtrieb 2015 After the IDF duked it out for 12 rounds of coffee with Stefan Ritsch we are super excited to announce the return of Almabtrieb as a World Qualifying Series event for 2016. The Almabtrieb event has a very long history as an event that simply cannot be missed as riders all over the world will be excited by the challenge of this new Almabtrieb track in Austria on a road that literally jackknifes its way down the mountain. Tight racing will be the order of the day on a track that will settle scores in the center of Europe and dictate who will lead and who will follow on the IDF leaderboard for the second part of the European Tour.

Kozakov Challenge

Riders going through first corner @ Kozakov 2016In a motorcade of Gypsy proportions the IDF bus will be sent across the border under a full load and into the Czech republic for the legendary Kozakov Challenge World Cup. The high speed track will separate the title challenges from the title pretenders as scores are settled on the steep mountain road of Kozakov. If riders can survive the party that will crown the Kozakov event the IDF will fire up the boat again.

Teolo

Lugers @ TeoloIn the first week of August the IDF will fire up the bus again, push it over the Alps and head south to the Italian town of Teolo for the italian World Qualifying Series event. Once the kissing stops the tour riders will battle for critical tour points on this unique track. With the new max 7 including 2 rule, there will be a valuable bounty of points on offer heading into the penultimate event of the European Tour where the King of Europe will decide if he/she wants to challenge as the king of the IDF.

Insul 2016

Insul

Insul, Germany will be the location and the next battleground for the crown of the best on the continent. While the local German riders will be studiously on time, the world invasion will be there to take the title from the engine room of Europe.

Shuttle Salzadella 2015

Salzadella

For the final event of the European Tour the ship will sail south for the sunny surrounds of Salzadella, Spain. While bathing suits will be optional, leather will be the order of the day on a track that will determine who takes the continental crown and who will take the bragging rights to South America when the IDF World Tour 2016 continues...

***To keep everybody in the loop, The IDF has been in discussion with the organisers of Eat Concrete in Luxembourg about holding a WQS event in May 2016. Unfortunately we were not able to hold off the European tour announcement any longer.
