Mt Jefferson Qualifying: The Roundest of Robins - International Downhill Federation

It was a crisp morning to start the day in High Country Appalachia.  Despite being summer, riders woke up to sub 50 degree temps and a cool-but-sunny road for Mt. Jefferson World Cup Qualifier Round Robin racing.

Yesterday we kicked off the event with 15 freeride runs; what better way to start day two than with more 5 more freeride runs? Around 12:30pm, racers gathered into their seeded first heats to run the Round Robin race-to-qualify brackets. (See the day's running order here.)

Open category ran 4 round robin heats; junior and luge categories had 3; and women had 2. As round robin often have ties, we seeded the original bracket based on 2017 rankings, followed by 2018 rankings, followed by the adjusted order for the remaining un-ranked skaters, aiming for the fairest-possible seeds. After the aforementioned round robins, we have a clear pathway to an exciting race day tomorrow. (Stay tuned for the exact brackets and running order.)
