A head to head battle took place at Lomalinda DH 2015 WQS between Swede Mauritz Armfelt and Mexican Oscar Gutiérrez, both led confidently all of their heats up to the final where they met and Armfelt took 1st place.
Blue skies in the morning lead to a fast day at Lomalinda on a dry track. Favourites like William Royce and Santiago Gonzalez Salaberry got eliminated early from the race with incidents well capitalized by the double podium winners, Peruvian Junior Rodrigo Zuzunaga and Luri Maggi from Brasil. South Americans Rodigo and Luri made their way to the finals, grabbing key points in South American tour.
American Rachel Bruskoff who raced on a hurt ankle dominated the Women category bravely over Cristina Verdú, Angie Duque and Sirley Tabares.
Rodrigo Zuzunaga from Perú wins the Juniors category over Renzo Ruidias, Juan Camilo Cardenas Gallo and Miguel Angel Sanchez Neira
The street luge category was run in a points style race, won by Spanish Mikel Echegaray who is showing the world who the fastest man on a downhill track is, followed by Abdil Mahdzan, Jan Tarradas Miquel and Andres Arias.
The classic luge category was also run in a points style race and also won by Spanish Mikel Echegaray over Konstantin Weigl, Jan Tarradas Miquel and Andres Arias.
A great opening for what is to come at the World Cup in Festival de la Bajada next weekend, with a much faster and complex track.
