The first World Cup race of the 2015 season has the most challenging downhill conditions we have ever seen. With speeds of 60mph (100km) the tight, steep track has 2,000 haybales and has earned its reputation as the the craziest one-mile race in the WORLD.
With rain over night the track took until late morning to completely dry. Runs started at 10:00am and finishing by 5:00pm. The field of 100 riders from 13 countries traveled from as far as South Africa, Spain, Australia and Brazil. The riders enjoyed 10 practice runs today, nine of which were timed.
Format for racing
After Day 1 at the new track the IDF has decided that all racing with be Head to Head 2 man racing.
16 bracket Juniors and 8 bracket Masters head to head 2 man heats Friday afternoon.
Top 28 from Open Quali automatically are entered in the final 32 race Bracket.
Seeds 29-60 will race a 32 head-to-head bracket with the top 4 joining the top 28 qualifiers in a 32-man finals bracket.
