Day 1 Newton's Action - International Downhill Federation
Mitch Thompson at Forest Elbow
Bathurst local Mitch Thompson rocked the fluoro leathers to lead Josh Evans through Forest Elbow in today's practice runs.

Like the apple falling on Isaac Newton's head, the 2018 IDF race year dropped into existence today; the opening of Newton's 2018. The strong international field tested out the track, with its two massive crash corners; The Dipper and The Elbow.

Carlos Paixão and Pepe Laporte
First time at Newton's? No problem for Brazilians Carlos Paixão and Pepe Laporte riding close through Forest Elbow.

Tomorrow will feature timed qualifying, with riders battling for the all-important high seed positions. From around 3pm the unofficial "Teams Race" will take place. Sunday will bring us the real head-to action, and a new set of champions in this, Newton's seventh year.
